Police officier Neil Perez was declared as the 9th Mister International during the finals night held Saturday, February 14, in Seoul, South Korea. He is the first from the Philippines to win the title.
First runner up was Lebanon’s Rabih El Zein, 2nd runner up was Czech Republic’s Tomáš Dumbrovský, 3rd was Poland’s Rafał Maślak, and 4th was Slovenia’s Mitja Nadizar.
Perez, who dedicated his win to the 44 members of the PNP-Special Action Force who recently perished in Mamasapano, Maguindanao, went all Filipino in the competition. His Dinagyang-inspired national costume was designed by Edwin Uy while his formal wear was from Olan Roque. He also chose to answer the final question in Filipino.
The top 10 finalists were: Brazil’s Matheus Martins, Japan’s Masakazu Hashimoto, Korea’s Youngho Park, Mexico’s Alejandro Valencia and Thailand’s Vittawat Srikes.
Completing the Top 15 semifinalists were: Colombia’s David Angel, Guam’s Richard Johnson, Indonesia’s Kevin Hendrawan, Myanmar’s Aung Chan Mya and Puerto Rico’s Christian Ortíz.
Mr Colombia was named Mister Congeniality, while Mr Korea was named as the Most Stylish. Mr Japan was awarded Mr Photogenic while the Best in National Costume Award went to China’s Shi Yu Quan. Mr Poland won the Missosology People’s Choice Award after topping the pageant website’s online poll.
