BEFORE Ariella Arida placed third runner-up in Miss Universe 2013, did you know that she competed in Miss Philippines Earth 2012 and failed to make the cut? She then decided to try her luck in Binibining Pilipinas, this time with a healthier body and better styling, and as they say the rest is history.
Just like her, some of this year’s candidates also come from MPE. Let’s meet them.
Binibini 27 Dindi Joy Pajares joined Miss Philippines Earth 2011, representing Balanga City, Bataan. She made it to the fourth elimination (Top 20), but unfortunately didn’t advance to the Top 10.
Two years after, Dindi competed in Slimmers World Miss Bikini Philippines. She made it to the Top 12 and won Best in Creative Posing.
She is working as a flight attendant before pursuing her Bb Pilipinas dreams.
Binibini 40 Christianne Ramos from Cainta, Rizal was also a candidate in Miss Philippines Earth 2011. Despite winning the Mutya ng Kalikasan special award, she was eliminated in the competition’s third round.
Last year, she made her pageant comback after she was handpicked by beauty queen trainer John Dela Vega to compete in the Charity Queen International pageant in Taiwan. She was awarded Miss Friendship.
She is an interdisciplinary studies graduate from Ateneo de Manila University where she was futsal team captain.
Most successful among the three former MPE girls is Binibini 3 Angela Lauren Fernando, who was crowned Miss Philippines Earth – Eco Tourism 2010. Representing Lubao, Pampanga, Angela took home the Best in Cultural Costume and Miss Photogenic awards. Prior to joining MPE, she was crowned Miss UST 2009.
After her stint in MPE, she spent the years finishing her medicine degree from the University of Santo Tomas and is now a medical intern at Makati Medical Center. Will her pageant and life experiences play to her advantage in Bb Pilipinas?
