Whoever wins the Miss Philippines Earth 2016 crown has huge shoes to fill following the back-to-back victory of the Philippines in Miss Earth. With Jamie Herrell and Angelia Ong winning the crown in 2014 and 2015, all eyes will definitely be on next winner as she will vie for a three-peat later this year.
Who among this year’s delegates from around the country and overseas communities deserve to wear the “Philippines” sash in the international stage? Here’s my fearless forecast.
Miss Philippines Earth: Puerto Princesa City | Imelda Schweighart
Miss Air: London | Kiaragiel Gregorio
Miss Water: Vienna | Melanie Mader
Miss Fire: Palo, Leyte | Nina Sherra Tagalog
Miss Eco-Tourism: Zamboanga City | Bellatrix Tan
The main crown will be a fight between pageant veteran Imelda Schweighart and overseas communities delegates Kiaragiel Gregorio and Melanie Mader. The London and Vienna girls have proven in the pre-pageant activities that they are threats, having won medals in some of the crucial competitions. However, the Puerto Princesa bet’s beauty, persistence and most of all, experience, give her the advantage.
6: Dumaguete City | Maria Fatima Al-sowyed
7: Laoang, Northern Samar | Ellyz Santos
8: Lobo, Batangas | Krissandra Marie Abel
9: Rosales, Pangasinan | Shannon Rebecca Bridgman
10: Murcia, Negros Occidental | Jessica Zevenbergen
The candidates from Palo, Zamboanga, Dumaguete and Laoang are potenital spoilers for the top three girls mentioned above. Nina Tagalog is a breath of fresh air. Bellatrix Tan, meanwhile, could be Mindanao’s second MPE winner. These two also did well in the pre-pageant events. Another stunner is Fatima Alsowyed, who was Miss Bikini Philippines 2015. Ellyz Santos is one dedicated lady who also has good presentation skills.
11: Cagayan de Oro City | Charinna Barro
12: City of Alaminos | Eva Eunice Reinoso
13: City of San Fernando | Korina Christiene Reyes
14: Pililla, Rizal | Kisszel Malazarte
15: City of Sta. Rosa | Riji Anne Mae Canog
Worthy of mention are some underrated ladies in the competition: Miss Lobo Krissandra Marie Abel and Miss Santa Rosa Riji Anne Mae Canog. Krissandra has one of the best faces in the competition while Riji Canog has a lovely figure and impressive academic background. While these two girls didn’t win any medals, they could very much pull off pleasant surprises in case they make the cut.
Laoag City | Loren Mar Artajos
City of San Pedro | Athena Mari Jamaica Catriz
Piat, Cagayan | Anna Mae Cagurangan
Pagadian City | Kristel Suizo
Caloocan City | Joanna Rose Tolledo
The finals will be held tonight, June 11 at the UP Theater in Diliman, Quezon City.
