Miss Universe 2013 3rd runner-up Ariella Arida is back in the contest as the backstage correspondent of the 63rd Miss Universe pageant in Doral-Miami, Florida.
The news was confirmed by Arida in a report by TV Patrol.
This marks the third year that a former Miss Philippines was tapped to do the web hosting chores for Miss Universe. Shamcey Supsup and Janine Tugonon hosted the online show “On the Scene” in 2012 in 2013, respectively.
The finals will take place at the FIU Arena of the Florida International University on January 25. Arida is set to fly to Miami on January 18.
A BUZZ of excitement filled the Araneta Center grounds in Cubao, Quezon City on the afternoon of March 22 as the much-awaited 2014 Binibining Pilipinas Grand Parade of Beauties took place.
Beauties on parade
Beaming with positivity, the 40 candidates wore eye-catching headdresses and neon green bikinis as they paraded atop giant floats inspired by Philippine festivals. Divided into three groups, they all tirelessly waved to the excited crowd amid the scorching heat of the sun.
The candidates were joined in the parade by the reigning queens Ariella Arida (Miss Universe 2013 3rd runner-up), Bea Rose Santiago (Miss International 2013), Joanna Cindy Miranda (Bb Pilipinas-Tourism 2013) and Mutya Johanna Datul (Miss Supranational 2013), who also wore their best smiles.
The parade ended in front of Smart Araneta Coliseum’s green gate, where the girls introduced themselves one by one.
The parade is one of the final major events before the coronation night. The candidates rocked the Big Dome early this month for the annual Fashion Show and National Costume Competition. They also had a string of sponsors visits. They also spent a day with the children of the Gawad Kalinga Escopa. Meanwhile, the pageant primer, The Road to the Crown, will be aired on ABS-CBN’s Sunday’s Best tomorrow night.
The grand coronation night will happen on March 30, and will be hosted by Anne Curtis, Xian Lim, Venus Raj, and Shamcey Supsup.
Who stood out?
The parade is one big event where the candidates get scrutinized by the public. It is but natural and expected that these girls will prepare hard for this — from the make-up to their tanning lotions to how they would wave and smile to crowd.
As the crowed cheered, the festive drum beats echoed throughout the Araneta Center, here are the girls who caught my eye.
Julian Aurine Flores. She was the first girl to go out of Balay and I must say, this girl is glowing.
Parul Shah. This morena beauty’s winsome smile is hard to ignore. Plus that gorgeous body!
Hannah Mariz Dela Guerra. She may not have the best body, but her smile radiated so much energy. Mapapangiti ka pag nakita mo siya.
Emma Mary Tiglao. The oriental beauty never lost her beautiful smile, and those nice dimples. A real stunner!
Mary Jean Lastimosa. The crowd favorite and it’s easy to say why. She is beautiful. She has a bangin’ body. She has a winsome smile. She is charismatic.
Hannah Ruth Sison. While most of the girls chose to curl their hairs, Hannah opted to wear it straight. And it worked to her advantage. Plus she was very bubbly on the float.
Pia Wurtzbach. I seldom call someone a super-beauty, but Pia is an exception. She’s one of the prettiest in the batch, no doubt! She was one of the crowd-favorites. But I wasn’t able to utter a single word for a few seconds when I finally saw her face-to-face after the parade. Pretty, stunning, sophisticated.
Diana Arevalo. I might sound bias here because she’s one of my favorites, but I’m sure everyone who saw the parade can say that Diana has one of the best faces in the competition. I also got the chance to talk for a few minutes to her after the parade, and I must say she is really determined to win a crown this year.
Angelique De Leon. Just like the rest, she was smiling all throughout the parade, but she really has this magnetic vibe in her. One can’t help staring at her.
Yvethe Marie Santiago. Some may call her “layogenic” (someone who looks pretty from afar), but you just can’t deny this girl is a head-turner. Also one of the most cheered girls.
Finally, the Bb Pilipinas Gold queens. They are all beautiful and deserving of their victories.
That’s all for now. I’m just thankful to Pawee Ventura for the opportunity to cover this event for Missosology. Hope you all were entertained by my updates on the Missosology Philippines Facebook page.
The Senate has adopted resolutions commending Bb Pilipinas Gold queens Ariella Arida and Bea Rose Santiago for their victories in their respective international beauty pageants last year.
Arida finished 3rd runner-up in Miss Universe 2013 held in Moscow, Russia. Meanwhile, Santiago brought home the Philippines’ 5th Miss International crown after winning in Tokyo, Japan.
In her Instagram account, Arida thanked the Senate for the recognization, adding that it is “the best gift ever.”
Last month, the Bb Pilipinas Gold queens were also commended by the House of Representatives yesterday for their achievements in their respective pageants. Arida was also cited for providing “hope and inspiration to the Filipino amidst a time of tragedy.” She competed in Miss Universe a day after the country was hit by Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).
Good job, Bb Pilipinas Gold batch! Thank you for bringing honor to the country. 🙂
Having a killer bikini body is one of the keys to winning in a pageant. It shows how disciplined a girl is and how far she is willing to take to win.
This year’s Binibining Pilipinas candidates surely take this belief by heart as most of them have pageant-ready bodies when they strut their stuff during the official presentation. But here are, in my opinion, the top 10 girls with the best swimsuit bodies. Photo credits to Rappler’s Jose Del.
Clad in colorful swimsuits, the 40 official candidates of Binibining Pilipinas 2014 were formally presented to the members of the press, sponsors and other guests this afternoon, February 19 in the plush Sofitel Philippine Plaza.
The girls showed off their best form in the hopes of being catapulted as favorites and frontrunners in what could be the toughest edition of Binibini yet. This year’s roster of candidates is composed of repeaters including former runners-up, models, students and professionals all vying for the chance to wear the Philippine sash in the international pageant arena.
Former titlists Venus Raj (Miss Universe 2010 4th runner-up), Shamcey Supsup (Miss Universe 2011 3rd runner-up), Precious Lara Quigaman (Miss International 2005), Ariella Arida (Miss Universe 2013 3rd runner-up), Joanna Cindy Miranda (Bb Pilipinas Tourism 2013) and Mutya Johanna Datul (Miss Supranational 2013) graced the event.
Coronation night is on March 30. Reigning Miss Universe Gabriela Isler of Venezuela will assist in crowning the new winner.
In a press statement, the Bb Pilipinas Charities Inc said: “Gabriela will also be coming to the country to help the ongoing relief and rebuild efforts in the provinces devastated by Typhoon Yolanda through the Miss Universe Fund.” Isler will be joined by Miss Universe Organization president Paula Shugart.
Last year’s Bb Pilipinas winners is considered as the most successful after all four titleholders placed in their respective international pageants. Bea Rose Santiago was crowned Miss International 2013 in Japan while Mutya Johanna Datul became the first Asian Miss Supranationa after winning the pageant in Belarus. Ariella Arida finished third runner-up in Miss Universe pageant held in Moscow, Russia while Cindy Miranda made it in the Top 10 of Miss Tourism Queen International in China.
Miss Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler of Venezuela will be travelling to the country to crown the next Miss Universe Philippines during the Bb Pilipinas 2014 coronation night on March 30.
This was confirmed by Madame Stella Marquez-Araneta, the matriarch of Bb Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) in a Philstar.com report published today (Read the full article here). Miss Universe Philippines 2013 Ariella Arida, who placed 3rd runner-up in the finals held in Moscow, Russia last November, will crown her successor together with Isler.
This will be a historic coronation night as three reigning international titleholders will be in attendance in Binibining Pilipinas. Miss International Bea Rose Santiago and Miss Supranational Mutya Johanna Datul will also be crowning the new BbP-International and BbP-Supranational by the end of the pageant.
In the first place, the BCPI should not have accepted incomplete requirements. The deadline for submission has been extended (from Dec 30 to Jan 15) so that must’ve been long enough for the girls to complete their documents. Second, the BPCI should have also scrutinized the applications first before starting with the screenings.
But as pageant fans, we have no other choice but to wait for that “final” final screening and the announcement of the official candidates. After all, it is better to have a slow but sure process, instead of disqualifying (or worse, dethroning) a girl for any problems with her documents.
Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago, Miss Supranational 2013 Mutya Johanna Datul and Miss Universe 2013 third runner-up Ariella Arida were commended by the House of Representatives yesterday for their achievements in their respective pageants.
Santiago won for the Philippines its fifth Miss International crown last December, while Datul was the first Asian to bag the Miss Supranational crown last September.
Arida was cited for providing “hope and inspiration to the Filipino amidst a time of tragedy.” She competed in Miss Universe a day after the country was hit by Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).
Mercator’s Jonas Gaffud, the man behind Venus Raj, Shamcey Supsup, Janine Tugonon and Ariella Arida, earlier today posted on his Instagram account photos of his “girls” for 2014 national pageants.
The faces were intentionally blurred to give a little mystery to the identity of these ladies, but rumours have it some of them include Kimverlyn Suiza (2013 Miss Philippines Earth-Air), Dianne Querrer (radio jockey, former UST courtside reporter and 2011 MPE candidate) and Pia Wurtzbach (2013 Bb Pilipinas 1st runner-up).
